Three Homesteading Hacks That Make Your Life Better

These are the best homesteading hacks to make your life easier

1: The best way to plant seeds is

You need lots of light.

Seedlings need a lot of light. Make sure your window faces south. Seedlings that don’t receive enough light will become leggy and weak if they don’t have enough.

Timing is everything:

Seed starting should allow you to get your seedlings outside as soon as the weather permits. You should start by reading the seed packet. It will tell you when seeds are to be started. It will usually say:

2: Preparing a superfood using basic ingredients:

You’ll need:

4 cups of lean meat, or 1 lb (deer, beef or caribou)

3 cups blueberries or other dried fruits

2 cups of fat (or 1/2 pound)

Optional: unsalted nuts, about 1 shot honey

Let the shoulder roast, which is lean and grass-fed, cool in the freezer for about a pound. Then you can cut it thin.

Salt and pepper to taste. Turn the oven down to 150 degrees and place the meat strips directly on the rack. To prevent moisture buildup, crack the oven door.

You can also dry the meat with a few frozen blueberries in a small oven.

Allow the meat to dry for at least fifteen hours or until it becomes crispy. Put it in a food processor to make it into a fine powder. Repeat the process with the blueberries. To make a powder, they used to pound the blueberries with a rock.

3 Making delicious bark-bread in three easy steps:

1. Mix the flour, yeast, salt and water in a large bowl. Mix 300ml of the honey and oil in a bowl. Stir into the dry ingredients until you have a soft dough.

2. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for five minutes, or until it is no longer sticky. Sprinkle with flour if necessary.

3. Oil the loaf pan and place the dough in it. Press the dough into the pan evenly. Place the dough in a large bag of plastic food and let it rise for at least 1 hour, or until it is thick enough to fill the loaf tin.

4. Pre heat oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6. Bake the loaf for 30 to 35 minutes until it is golden and rises. To check that it is cooked, transfer it to a cooling rack. It should sound hollow. Let it cool.
